Overwhelming in its complexity, confusing in its various configurations of decision-making, riddled by financing sources and formulas and characterized by twenty-five year planning horizons, transportation often proves a daunting addition to the advocacy agenda of an organization already hard at work on another substantive issue. Serving as a resource and a catalyst for collaboration, the collective efforts of the statewide Alliance and the staff of the JTA can help Partner organizations make a difference on transportation planning, policy, and investment without requiring a major commitment of staff or volunteer time and/or resources.

With a modest investment of time and resources, Alliance staff will assist Partner organizations by providing practical training and informational resources that outline clearly and directly how transportation decisions are made, by identifying key points that can be used by Alliance Partners to link clearly transportation reform to the success of their own agenda or target populations, and by highlighting opportunities for change. With the commitment of one organization, complimented by similar commitments from other Alliance partners, this modest investment will begin to resound with the volume, mass, and collective power that can generate significant and positive transportation
